The Vow

Some girlfriends and I went to see this yesterday and it's super cute!! We decided, since none of our lives are 'fairy tale' like that, we would have a few cocktails ;). We can all dream for Channing Tatum to walk through our living room shirtless right? ;)

Carmel and Monterey CA = the trip of a lifetime

Oh, what a trip!!!! We had an unbelievable time and were so sad to come home. We missed our baby more than anyone could ever imagine
but we were sad to leave such paradise. We got there Saturday around 11 AM and took our time along HWY 1 (Pacific Coast Hwy). We rented an SUV and my my, those are FAR from cheap! Matt and Sarah Pitts joined us as well as Kayla and Craig and we just had the best time. San Jose is about an hour &1/2 from our hotel, The Tickle Pink Inn, in Carmel so we took the scenic route and when I say 'scenic' I mean SCENIC! Matt Pitts decided to navigate us and got us off the beaten path a little. Haha! Let's just say... Or should I say, Matt just said: "Hell, we might see a hobbit or a dragon in here.". Crazy mountains I never knew this part of CA had!!!! And I do not get carsick but this route definitely made me think otherwise. It was fun though and beyond beautiful. We got to the hotel and went to their Rooftop deck for the nightly complimentary wine and cheese happy hour to relax and take it all in.
The view from our balcony and our daily visitor!

We went to Aubergine, the restaurant at L'Auberge Carmel, for dinner and words cannot describe this place! Oh my word! We all had the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairing and basically that translates into: a 4 hour, remarkable, FULL-ON Dining experience. Never, before in my life, have I ever had an 8- course meal!!! Basically, the chef listed 20 ingredients on the menu, ranging from coffee to lobster, and with those he created our dinner. We did not know what to expect but I can assure you it BEYOND exceeded our expectations!!! Wow! So fun and dee-lish!! And they sat us in their wine cellar which required keys to not only enter the room but to also get any wine out of the glass cases. Amazing!!! We got there at 8 and left at midnight!!! Unreal!! Craig took a few photos of some of the dishes with his cell phone so once he sends those to me, I'll post 'em.

Lobster with fennel

3 types of Oysters from all over the world. A little aphrodisiac in honor of Valentines day. ;)

Abalone with a coconut jelly

Foie Gras

Lambs tongue--deelish!!!

The next day, Kayla and Craig took a day trip to San Fran to visit some friends while Brian and Matt played golf at The Links at Spanish bay (a Pebble Beach property) and Sarah and I enjoyed The Spa at Pebble Beach. Pebble was a little busy with the ProAmn AT&T golf tourney so they couldnt play it but that didn't stop Sarah and I from venturing over there and checking out the scene! Right when we got there we saw Tony Romo and Tiger Woods tee off which was super fun and on the way there we saw Jane Fonda and Ted Turner walking. They have a nice little spread on the 17- Mile drive off HWY 1 and Pebble Beach. They looked like normal 'ole folk! Matt is who spotted them! Good eye, Matt! The spa was unlike any spa I've ever been to, that's for sure.... So glad we got to do that!

Pebble golf courses are breathtaking!!!!

We met the guys afterwards at Spanish Bay for a drink.

That night we went to dinner at Casanova after, again, enjoying the wine and cheese happy hour at the hotel. Do you think we had any wine on this trip? Haha! Casanova is the most romantic restaurant in Carmel and that it was. B and I ate here on our honeymoon and it was so good we wanted to take the rest of the group.

Kayla's going to kill me for posting these. ;) think we'd had any wine?!?

Monday morning, we got up and ate breakfast at the hotel before setting off for an action packed day! We started off with some wine tastings in Carmel and Monterey, because who doesn't drink wine at 11 AM?!?! Haha! The beautiful thing about these two towns is they have wine tasting rooms everywhere so we didn't have to travel to Napa. We started at one of B and I's favorite, Scheid Wineries, then went to Portabella for lunch.

It rained a bit this day but that didn't stop us!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, mom and dad were having a blast with Cameron!

They also visited Brian's office and of course, the girls had to sneak a quick photo in!

After that we went to Monterey and visited Bargetto Wineries then A Taste of Monterey which is a tasting room that lets you sample all sorts of wine from the region. This was another tasting room Brian and I loved so much we took the group and it was a hit!
While there we hit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and wow! What a place!?!? Its the largest and BEST aquarium in the world!!!!! I didn't take too many photos but here are a few....

Before dinner at 183 in Monterey, we thought: why not one more winery??? Pierce Wineries came highly recommended so we headed that way and it was probably our favorite, besides Scheid. Our sommelier at Pierce, Mike, created a fabulous wine tasting experience for us bringing out dark chocolate to pair with one of their wines and oh my! Who would have thunk?!? So yummy!!! We had a blast!

Tuesday was back to reality. :(. We had to go home and were so sad. The six of us had a wonderful time and look forward to planning this annual trip year after year!
But, lucky for us, we got to come home to this sweet face, and suddenly realized how truly blessed we really are. We missed you so much, Cameron Elizabeth! BIG thanks to Grammy and Pop for keeping her and allowing us to get away for a few days. Love and appreciate y'all more than you know!!!!

Next up? Viva Las Vegas baby!!!!! My team won a trip for work and next weekend is when we're going! Included is 2 roundtrip airfare, 2 nights stay at Aria Hotel, and a $300 gift card. Yes please!!!!! BIG thanks to Mamy and Slick for coming to keep little munchkin. ;)
Cheers,
Lindley
