Cameron's first babysitter besides her grandparents!

My sweet friend, Lindsay Hale, just insisted I take some time for myself and get out of the house so while she was working from home this past Friday she kept Cameron for about 3.5 hours and I have to say: that was an awesome 3.5 hours but I missed my little munchkin! I went and had lunch with Brian at Matt's down in Lakewood before it closes in February, :( (sad day) then ran a few errands before picking her up. How in the world am I supposed to return to work In a month? :(. This time with my daughter is irreplaceable and I am loving every minute!!! She changes every day, has the funniest little personality, smiles a lot, and is growing way too fast. I hadn't been gone an hour and Lindsay is already texting me photos. She said Cam was a good girl and did a lot of staring and looking around considering 6627 Clearhaven Circle is all she's known since she came into this world! Thanks Linds for the much needed break!!!! Love ya!

More Visitors!!!

This past weekend, Brian's father, (Cliff) stepmom, (Teresa) and grandparents (Bubber and Granddaddy--Brian was the very first grandchild (they have 17 grandkids and 10 great grandkids) and when he couldn't say 'grandmother' BUBBER came out instead so it stuck) from Hereford came to visit. It's the first time they've seen our house and Cameron. Teresa brought her a pink skeleton Halloween costume that's too stinkin' cute, a precious little polo outfit that involves a satin-lined fleece vest that has matching corduroy pants and a little pink onesie....will be perfect for this winter, and then she made her a Tech blanket! We love it! Sweet Bubber got Cam her very first pink Bible with her name engraved on the front cover. So very special! Thank yall so much for the goodies. Brian cooked out burgers and made his fabulous homemade fries on Friday night then he smoked a prime rib for us on Saturday. Oh.my.deliciousness!!!!!! Wow! Cliff works for a food distributor and bought this amazing piece of meat off one of his customers. I am not just a huge rib eye/prime rib gal but I would eat this morning, noon, and night. Soooo good!!! We had a nice little weekend. Cliff wants to be 'Poppy' and Teresa wants to be 'Mingo' as she loves flamingos so needless to say, they worked with Cam on those names this weekend. I think those are cute names. If she's like her daddy, we might have a 'boppy' and 'bingo'. Ha! Thanks for coming y'all, and thanks for that Fabulous wine, Cliff! What a treat!!!!!

Visit. ;). She does so much for my sis and I and we could not be more grateful. Thx for coming mom.... We love you!!!

Fun-filled weekend with friends and fantastic food!!

Its so sad how geeked up food makes me, but hey: thats neither here nor there, right? Haha

So, Friday night we had our friends Joe and Heather over for dinner and I almost cried when I finished off the leftovers from our meal yesterday afternoon! Brian made his ridiculous chicken bow tie chicken pasta with homemade cream sauce, mushrooms, asparagus, shallots (I don't even know what a shallot is!!?!? ;)) fresh parsley, pancetta, and tomatoes. I'm telling u: I would pay $50 a plate for this piece of heaven on a plate in a restaurant it's that good! And yes he's my husband and yes I think he's great but you poll anyone on the street after trying this and it will receive glowing reviews from everyone. Hands.down. He is so talented and just 'knows' how to cook, pair things together, add what ingredient when and how much of it, etc etc. I wish for his talent because I am NOT a cook and am quickly realizing either you have 'it' or u dont and I just dont. ;). Hence the reason I did the salad. Ha! And, not only did he outdo himself with the entree, he also made creme brûlée! To.Die.For! Thanks for a fun night Heather and Joe and thanks for the fabulous meal, baby. Maybe one day you'll get that restaurant you've been wanting. Oh, and Heather: the cake balls were dee-LISH!!! Some of the best I've ever had. And thanks for the wine. So fun seeing y'all!! I am sad we didnt take any photos though. :(. Next time!!

Then, Saturday night, we had our friends Jonathon and Trisha over for dinner. They were in town from Austin seeing family and friends and stopped by to see us and Cameron. Brian, once again, outdid himself!! Blue cheese burgers from Whole Foods and homemade French fries!!!! OH MY GOSH! Even Trisha ate them and the girl doesn't eat fried food!!! So good!

You're a natural Trisha!!!! I can't wait for you to be a mommy!!!

We beat the hell out of OU in Norman!!!!!!! That is HUGE!!!!!!! Wreck 'em Tech!!!

Thanks for coming to see us Kimes Krew! We had a blast! We will visit y'all next!!!

Then, Sunday morning, a big group of us girls went to bunch. One of my dear friends, Mandie, was In town with her boyfriend (who I just KNEW was going to propose but didn't!! Thanks for letting me down, Christopher!!! ;)) and another couple for the Cowboys game and her 30th birthday, and since she knows so many people in Dallas, she coordinated a get together at Villa O in Uptown for all of to see each other. It's an all organic restaurant, and although I'm not a big Organic fan, this place was fantastic! I had the eggs Benedict and instead of regular hollandaise sauce it was tomato basil hollandaise and really good! Great seeing u sweet friend and happy birthday!!!

6 hours!!!

I don't want to jinx this but Cameron went 6 hours last night!! 10P-4A!!!!! Woo hoo! Then from 4:30-7!!! Thank u baby girl... Your folks feel human again!!! ;). We love u so much!

Here are a few photos from us trying out the Baby Bjorn this morning. She's been a little fussy lately, wanting only to be held, so this thing is perfect! And let me tell you: it's brilliant!!!! Not sure why I haven't gotten this thing out before now! Thx sis
for the hand-me-down! Saved us a LOT of money and mommy frustration ;). And, Cam loves it!!!

Our first baby....

Nixie wants to make sure we don't forget her, of which we certainly haven't, but she sure has a way of making herself known around the house. I came to get in bed
tonight after washing my face and on both of my pillows she sat. Silly little dog ;)

Humbled....

Brian and I are still being reminded, on a daily basis, what amazing family and friends we have. My friends, Sarah and Shannon, came over last night and although I haven't seen them in a while we picked right up where we left off. Shannon is from Plainview and Sarah is my pledge sister/good friend from college. Both are such sweet genuine girls who have huge hearts! They brought us dinner from this new Italian food restaurant called 'Holy Ravioli' in Uptown that was DEE-LISH and Sarah brought over the best gift for a new mommy ever!!!! Not to mention it was SO thoughtful I almost cried but she bought 6 bottles of wine from the grocery store and wrote an encouraging saying on each bottle for me to read when I open it. She said wine was she wanted when she became a new mom and I have to say I couldn't agree more!!! ;). Thanks girls for making our day! Love y'all!!

Cam Pictures :)

I love this little girl so much it hurts!!!! Thank you for changing our lives in a way we never thought possible!

More visitors!!!!

After my parents left yesterday, Gary and Pat Coleman came over to see Cameron and to visit for a few hours. Gary is Brian's old boss/colleague/co-worker/friend and they live in Richardson so we try to get together when we can. The Coleman's are very special friends who we've gotten really close with over the last couple of years so it's always nice to see them. Bless their hearts, they showed up with a casserole, homemade sourdough bread (YUM!!!) compliments of Chef Gary, ice cream, a darling outfit for Cameron that involves red tulle on the onesie, black velour pants, sparkly red Mary Jane shoes....yes, yes, it's precious and Cam can't wait to wear it, and the below Cabbage Patch Doll!!!!!! Long story, but I love me some Cabbage Patch Dolls and Pat knows this so, being the unbelievable sweet and thoughtful woman she is, she totally went out and got Cameron her very own doll! Not to mention she's RED-HEADED! How fitting is that!??! Her name is Eloise Faith and I know for a fact that I'm more excited about this doll than Cam is, but I know she'll grow to love it too once she's older. How cute is she?!?!!? Thanks, you guys, for stopping by, and the goodies. You both are too much!

Pop's first time meeting Cameron and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

My parents made a last minute trip to Dallas this past weekend and it was so fun having them. My dad hadn't met Cam yet so he was super excited! He thinks she's pretty neat. And, she's really starting to get some personality and smile at us, which is very exciting and fun. It seems like they came and went though :( They got here Friday around 5 and we had fajitas from this little hole in the wall fajita joint that delivers and we love it! It's our stand by when we don't want to go out or cook and they never disappoint!

Saturday morning, while my sweet parents babysat, Brian had a CME course and I walked the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in honor of my dear friend, Debra. Our company sponsored a tent, paid for everyone to walk, and had T-shirts made for everyone in her honor. The shirts said: "Losing is not an option" on the front and "Pink for Peck" on the back. So cute! And, WOW!!!!! What an amazing experience that was! There were 30K people at this thing and it was crazy but so fun and memorable for Debra. She and I went into the Survivors tent and that was somethin' else! They had white table cloths on all the tables, fresh flower arrangements on each table, gourmet food, their own porta potties, all kinds of free stuff...it was so nice!!!! Debra loved it.

Saturday night, while my sweet parents babysat, once again, we went over to our friends Mike and Lindsay's house to watch the Tech game and had a blast! Tech lost, unfortunately, but we thoroughly enjoyed Mike's delicious smoked BBQ, adult beverages, and conversation. Thanks for having us over, Hales, and thanks for babysitting mom and dad. You guys are the best!!!

Sunday morning, my folks left around 10 and I wasn't ready for them to go :( They were such a huge help and it was so fun just visiting and drinking wine with them in our living room. Love you guys more than you know...

Cheers,
Lindley

Texas Rangers!!!!

They are going to the World Series and are gonna kick some serious Cardinals booty!!!!

Tech/A&M Game.... or lack thereof....

Those darn Red Raiders are really pissing us off! Why can' they get their act together!??! So frustrating. Bridget and Jim had people over for the game and we had a blast, despite the outcome of the game. They recently bought a new house up in Frisco and it's lovely! And, LARGE! I told them they need at least 3 kids to fill the place up! :) We took Cameron and she was an angel baby the whole time. We got there around 4:30 and stayed until 11:30 and she did great. Bridget and Jim were wonderful hosts and we'll be back very soon! Plus, they are building a pool in their backyard that's going to be ridiculous! We're talking vacation/oasis-like with a swim up tiki, with a thatched roof and everything, bar, built in barstools, and a game table with an umbrella. Seriously? Um, yes please!!!!

Thanks, again, for having us Hughes...ya'll know how to have a great party!

Bridget practicing for their 3 kids! HA!
Aunt K...in Cameron's words: "she spoils me!"
Sweet Deb..she has 'the touch'
Brian and I acting like we're 'at' the game.

1 month old, more 'regular,' and Julianna

I know this is a little late, as I was having computer issues, but Cam was 1 month old 2 Fridays ago! These little stickers seem to be getting smaller and smaller

Also, she's doing much better with the formula and getting a little more on 'track' if you know what I mean. I think her tummy is just taking a little time getting used to formula only but she's doing much better and is more regular now. Her biggest blow out yet was while we were interviewing a nanny a few weeks ago! Nice 1st impression, Cameron. :)

Speaking of nannies, we hired Julianna, the one Cam christened with her blowout, :o) this past weekend! I have been stressed beyond belief trying to line up childcare for her once I go back to work and I truly think God had a plan all along for us and her, he just made me work a little bit for it. HA! I joined a website called Care.com and had great luck with it finding nanny applicants. We could not be more pleased with her and the care she'll provide to Cameron starting next year. She's such a sweet spirit with a huge heart, had GLOWING references, only lives about 20 minutes away, loves children, and actually has a 3 month old of her own that she'll be bringing with her each day. We are thrilled for Cameron to get that extra socialization from her son, Levi. I go back to work on Dec 5th, but we're not having her start until after the new year. My mom is going to keep Cam the 1st week of Dec, my dear friend, Courtney, is keeping her the next 2 weeks while she's home studying for her nursing boards, and then my Mother in law is keeping her the last week so things have just really worked out perfectly. God.Is.Good. I found her initial email to me once she saw my job on Care.com and it was so professional and well-written that I wanted to put it on here so I never forget how I felt once I read it. I had a good feeling about her from the beginning.

Hi Lindley,

I read your posting and am interested in learning more. I have been on this site since April looking for a full-time nanny position. I haven't been a nanny before, but I think it will fit perfectly with my expertise, experience, and caring personality! I live in South Allen, and used to work in North Dallas (Preston and Forest). For the past 5 years I worked at a developmental gymnastics facility, where I was the manager during the last 15 months. The curriculum teaches children from 4 months to age 12, which focuses on motor development for the little ones. Not only will I love and care for your baby, I can also use my expertise in physical exercises and motor development to keep your child engaged and learning.I have a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M. I am also a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer and just finished a case with two children. Before working with gymnastics I taught swim lessons and life-guarded for children of all ages for several years. I also coached Jr. High/High School Track and Cross Country and was a basketball official for elementary through high school age. My certification in Infant and Child CPR/First Aid expired just recently, but I am willing to get it renewed ASAP.I would love to start a new career as a nanny because I am caring, loyal, and work best in intimate settings. Also, I love pets if you have any. I can also babysit occasionally on the weekend if you need a night out! I have babysitting and after school experience as well.In addition I have newborn experience because I have a baby of my own! He is almost 3 months, and so far is a pretty laid back baby. I already have daycare lined up for when I find a full-time job. Or, if you're open to discussing the option to bring him with me that would be fantastic! If the pay rate is negotiable I am hoping to discuss both options with you. I can provide a resume and references. I drive a Jeep Liberty that is current with maintenance (recent oil change, new tires, and brakes repaired). I have a good driving record and full coverage insurance.I am looking for a long-term commitment that is a perfect partnership with you. Thank you for considering me!

Sincerely,

Julianna

Rough day...

Our little munchkin had a rough day today.... Actually, it may have been harder on me than her but since I've stopped pumping due to my milk supply just becoming nonexistent I think her little tummy is having a hard time adjusting. She cried from around 9 AM until 2 PM. Poor thing.... I could tell she was hurting and now she's constipated. I'm hoping she has a poopy diaper for us tonight. I know that will help. Brian happened to call me while on his lunch break, right in the middle of one of her outbursts and it crushed him too. He couldn't wait to get home and hold his baby girl. There is nothing worse than seeing your baby cry like that and there not be anything you can do for them. Ugh! Broke my heart. But she's been a lot better after the 3 o'clock feeding so here's she stays comfortable for the rest of the night. I'm having a glass of wine while Daddy loves on her a little while.

In other news, I had my OBGYN post pardum visit yesterday and while I was at the hospital I decided to go weigh her and shes 9 lb, .1 ounces!!!! Yay!!!! She's gaining weight!
When she was discharged from the NICU, the one thing they told us, as parents, was to make sure she gains weigh and I think we've succeeded! Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with such a fighter angel baby!!!! Here she is being s good girl during my Dr's visit. Bless her....

Have a great weekend, all and Get Your Guns Up!!! Big game against A&M tomorrow!!!!

Lindley

Visitors & Cameron's Newborn Photoshoot

We had super special visitors last weekend: Brian's folks, Mamy and Slick! They came in Friday afternoon and left Sunday. My mother-in-law was so sweet: She told me before they came that she wanted me to do whatever I wanted on Saturday, that she would watch Cameron, and I sooo took her up on it. I haven't been able to run errands in 2 weeks so I did just that Saturday morning. She and Fred were so helpful with Cameron. They fed, rocked, dressed, entertained, held her, etc., etc and Brian and I enjoyed the little break. Amy also made us homemade chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans on Saturday night and I do believe that was The.Best CFS I've ever eaten!!!!! So good! And, to top it off, she went ahead and whipped up a homemade coconut pie to top it all off! I can't lie.... I ate like it was my last meal. I'm sure Amy and Fred thought I still had a baby in my belly by the looks of my TWO plate-fulls! HAHA! Thank ya'll so much for everything and coming. Cameron's one lucky little girl to have you two as grandparents.

Also: I want to apologize for being a bad blogger! So many people have come to visit Cameron and I've not blogged or taken photos. Shame on me. People's lives are crazy enough as it is so the fact that they have taken time to come see us means the world and we could not be more appreciative! Bridget, Kayla, Heather, my Kappa Alumni group and those who have brought us meals, Debra, Brian's cousin Lora, Mandie, our neighbors Trish and Sally, Blair, Megan, my pledge sister Erin, Lindsay.... I may be forgetting some, (hopefully I'm not) but my point is I want to thank ya'll for making time to come see Cameron and me over the last several weeks. I promise to do a better job at taking pictures and blogging about our visitors. :)

And, last but certainly not least: Cameron's newborn photos thanks to Sheblie Simerly. I was amazed by her talent and patience. Newborn photos are no walk in the park. They require a lot of time and work and I was so thankful she knew what she was doing because I certainly did NOT! :)
