My beautiful mom, Cameron's Grammy, getting some snuggle time in.
Our sweet baby girl is doing well. Brian went up there this AM on his way to work then Mom and I went for the 11 & 2 o'clock feedings. She weighs 6 lbs 3.2 oz and is eating VERY well! Just like her mommy and daddy. ;) I got to bathe her which was so fun, although I dont think she would agree. Ha! However, it went smoother than I thought. Her nurse absolutely adores Cameron and is very protective of her so she has a 'special' way to bathe her so she wouldnt get too upset which I thought was so sweet and she didnt get as upset ad i thought she would. And, she LOVED getting her hair washed.
She still has this little issue where her heart rate drops really low. Basically she stops breathing, but the doctors say its just because she's premie and will outgrow this. She always pulls herself out of it though, which is good, but the fact that she's still doing it calls for more monitoring. The last thing we want is to get her home and she do this. I asked the Nurse today what the chances of this resulting in heart defect would be and she said slim to none, thank goodness. She said there is a chance she could stay in the NICU until she's 'full term' which would be Oct 1, but they doubt that will happen. Now, if she's still doing this after her due date, then they may have to involve a Pediatric Cardiologist but at this point they don't foresee that happening. She's just still premie and should outgrow it, no problem. Noone is too concerned at this point so B and I have complete confidence in them and their abilities. Other than that, she's perfect. You might just say a little prayer for her please. ;). Every time her heart does it they push her going home date out another day, and as hard as that is to hear, I know she's in the best hands up there and needs to remain there as long as necessary. So we are just waiting, resting when we can, and visiting our little munchkin as often as possible. As of now, we are looking at her going home on Monday, but that could easily change should she have another spell. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers... She is a strong little girl and will overcome this! She's MY daughter!!! Haha!
Cheers,
Lindley
