Cameron Elizabeth Herring.... From the beginning

Cameron Elizabeth Herring arrived at 9:55 am yesterday morning!! She weighed 6lbs 10 oz anis was 18.5 inches long. I had to have an emergency C section due to my placenta detaching from my uteran wall so everything moved very quickly but was necessary for both of us. Dr Watkins, my OB/GYN, was afraid I might hemorrhage and since I was not near being close to going into labor she had no choice but to do a C section. Cameron is still in the NICU as her little lungs aren't fully developed (she was 3 weeks early) yet but overall she is doing good. She is strong and will get through this! She's just trying to figure out how this breathing thing works. Bless her little heart. She is on 25% oxygen and a C Pap machine, which is like one of those machines, people who snore really bad, wear at night. It is to help regulate her breathing, I brought her into this world just a little too early but we really had no choice. I didn't know this but lung development and how to breathe are the last 2 things that develop/are learned in utero so it makes sense she's no expert in this area quite yet but she'll learn eventually it just may take a little time. Other than that, we are doing good.

As they wheeled me back into my L&D room from the OR, one of my dear best friends, Lindsay Cooper, sat there on the couch awaiting my arrival. OMG, I cannot express how wonderful it was to see her!!!!!! B stayed back with Cameron so I would have been all by myself so I just lost it!!! Balling like a Baby!!!! Lou, thank u sweetie for being there!! U were and are a God send. She happened to be in town for meetings and arranged her schedule to be there for me! Love u, Lou!!!

We had many wonderful friends and family members visit us while in the hospital and I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture with everyone. :(. I did with some but forgot with others. Many thanks to: Bridget, Kayla and Craig, my sis, Mike & Lindsay Hale, Uncle Bill & Aunt Chloe, Lora & Labry, Todd and Lezlie, Debra, Heather, Patti & Lynette, my L&D nurse Karrie, & my OBGYN nurse Leslie. Thank y'all for making my stay so nice and comforting. I know many others wished they could be there and couldn't or live away or were pressed for time due to the suddenness of everything, but to be quite honest, I was more than pleased with the amount of people who did make it to the hospital given the circumstances. Once again, Brian and I are humbled beyond imagination by our friends and family's love and support. Thank you for everything!!

Why the immediate C section? I got up Friday morning, September 9, 2011, at 6 am to get up for day and when I went to the bathroom I was bleeding profusely. It scared Brian and I half to death but we both took deep breaths, got ourselves together, and called the Dr. Dr. Farrow, who is our OB's partner, was on call so she called us back and told us to go straight to L&D. We got there at 6:45, they sent us straight to registration (luckily I had pre-registered or else it would have taken much longer) we filled out the paperwork, they had me in my room by 7:45, my OBGYN, Dr Watkins, got there at 9 and made the call immediately after examining me and doing a sono that the baby needed to come out and that she was planning to do a C section. And, by 9:55, Brian and I had a beautiful baby daughter!!!! Brian got to shout "its a little girl!!!" to everyone in the OR which was so fun as noone knew and everyone was just as anxious as we were!!! It really was the happiest moment of my life hearing her cry for the very first time. She is perfect in every way and we cannot even begin to express how blessed we are. I think B is now more in love with his daughter than he is with me. You should hear him talk to her..... So sweet.

About 2 hours ago, Brian and I ran my last pumping's milk supply down to the NICU for her next feeding all to learn she is OFF the C pap and controlling her breathing on her own!!! Praise God!!! She is still on 25% oxygen, but is off the machine and that's huge progress!!! I'll continue to post more about her progress so check back later.

Some of these birth photos are pretty graphic so I apologize if u have a weak stomach but I really wanted these on here for memory purposes since I tend to lose mine from time to time. ;). And, yes it's picture overload, but I can't NOT post some of these so u get to see them all.

My friend, Debra Peck, stopped by for a visit and brought Sprinkles Cupcakes (my fav) and a darling hooded towel for Cameron. Thank u Deb.... Love ya!!!

Sweet Lindsay Hale

Proud daddy and Mamy!!!

The dreaded C Pap machine!!! But, it was critical to her lung development. Poor baby

Taking her temperature.

Changing her diaper

Finally off the C Pap machine!!!!!!! She was glad to be 'free!!'

She's so tiny!!!

Not a happy camper!! I was only trying to take her temperature...and under her arm, and not in her bottom mind u!!! ;) We may have a drama queen on our hands!!!

Look at all that hair!!

Our sweet little angel finally content.

And, lastly: I got to hold Cameron for the 1st time tonight!!!!! Skin to skin, which was really cool. Bless her... She knows her mommy and daddy. When we talk she opens her eyes and follows our every move.
