Tailgating, snow, stitches, Alabama, and Nixie

Tech's final home game was last Saturday and Kayla and Craig and some friends of Deb's were all in town so we had a super fun day! I had to take a picture of the Blazer 'all packed up'. How comical is this???

It's quite an ordeal getting all the food, drinks, canopy, chairs, generator, TV, satellite, .... GEAR all loaded up in ONE car. You name it, we've got it! And we don't even have the grill on in this picture. Normally he attaches this big metal storage bin-like thing on the back of his trailer hitch and loads it up with all sorts of stuff but we just did chili this last time so a crock pot was all we needed. But normally he grills out some remarkable goodness and is everyone's best friend by the end of the night. Brian works like a crazy person, 6 Saturday's a season, to make tailgating an awesome experience for all involved and I love him for that. It's such a blast! My parents and sis don't have season tickets but just come to tailgate each home game, it's that fun!

Dork! ;)

It snowed Sunday and Cam was in heaven!!!!

While unloading the Blazer Sunday afternoon Brian cut his head pretty good on the spare tire rack and instead of risking anything we decided he needed a stitch or two so we called Dr Phillips to see if he was busy at 6:30 PM on a Sunday night and he wasn't thankfully. He met us up at the office and stitched him right up! Lindsay and Joey were with us as we were heading to the Alabama concert. Lindsay snapped this photo and as you can see, I'm squinting to see. Wear your glasses Lin!!!

Thanks Ronnie, you're such a kind man who would do anything for us. We love you dearly!

So, we get B all fixed up and head to Jazz to eat before the concert but as we were walking into the concert we see a family leaving. They ask us if we are just getting there and we tell them yes. It's 830. The tickets say doors open at 630 and that Jamie Lynn Spears would be opening for them so we thought we would be fine at 830. Well, apparently not bc the concert was over at 9!!! Oh well... We heard four songs, which I guess, is better than none! And I heard my two favorites: "I'm in a hurry (And don't know why" and "Mountain Music!!"

YouTube Video

They sounded really good!!!

But.... The BIGGEST drama of last weekend was our sweet Nix went missing!!! Cam and I were playing out in the snow around 530 and nixie was with us. We came in at 6 but as I was feeding Tess I see she was back out front playing in it so I'm sure nix went too as the front door was wide open but I never thought about it. Well Debra and the Coopers show up around this as Deb is keeping the girls while we go to the concert and as we are heading into the concert Debra calls saying she can't find nixie. She thought she was in her kennel bc I always put her up when we have a lot of people coming over but she wasn't in there. I told Debra to just open the garage door
bc she ALWAYS comes home! Well, she never did. And I was a total wreck. Sunday night was the longest, worst sleep-less night of my life! Well someone found her around 730ish and didn't call my vet until this morning. That was the number on her tags. This sweet lady took such good care of her & fed her and everything. I couldn't believe it!!! I was so worried she was out in the cold all night long. When I went to pick her up she and I both just balled like babies while nixie squealed and whimpered and licked me from head to toe. It was like something you see in the movies! I'm so thankful for kind, honest, and caring West TX people. I bet you $1000 this would not have happened on Dallas!!! So glad to have my first, and only, fur-baby home!!!

I wrote her a $200 check and she was so appreciative as she cleans houses for a living and just had foot surgery so she's not able to work right now. That was the least I could do!!!

I didn't realize this but her tags only had my vets number on it so I had this made!!

Side note: as I'm talking to my vets office telling me they found her, my sister in law beeps in to tell me she saw Nixie on FB!!!!! The lady who found her posted to Lost and Fount pets of Lubbock TX and Kelly saw it! Crazy social media world we live in these days, eh?? Thanks for all your help too, KB!!!!

Cheers,
Lindley
